Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz arrived here on Friday to attend the important annual event of Jeddah Economic Forum (JEF). Saudi officials warmly received the Prime Minister. Islamic Development Bank President Dr Ahmed Muhammad Ali, Pakistan's ambassador to Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Mirza and officials of Jeddah Economic Forum at the Royal Terminal of Abdul Aziz airport.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is accompanied by the Federal Minister for Housing Syed Safwanullah, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Minister for Population Welfare Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain, Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Nouraiz Shakoor, Chairman Board of Investment Waseem Haqquie, Minister for Privatisation Hafeez Sheikh, Chairman Export Promotion Bureau Tariq Akram, Members of the National Assembly Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Nazir Ahmed Jat, Rais Munir Ahmed, and Foreign Secretary Riaz Muhammad Khan.

The Prime Minister will perform Umrah on Friday night and also offer 'Isha' prayers at Haram Sharif.

The Prime Minister is visiting Saudi Arabia to deliver keynote speech at the Jeddah Economic Forum on February 19 on the theme of "Capacity Building: Developing People for Sustainable Growth".

The Jeddah Economic Forum is an annual event organised by Jeddah Marketing Board, an offshoot of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since 1999, when it was established, the Forum has held five annual events so far.

The JEF 2005 will host an impressive gathering of international political and business leaders discussing major issues affecting Saudi Arabia, the region and the world under the theme of "Capacity Building: Developing People for Sustainable Growth".

Key note speakers, besides Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, will include President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi, President of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright as well as global business leaders, and academicians from the London Business School.
